It is “Give in May” time once again for nonprofit organizations. AAPI Heritage Month, or Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, has been celebrated in May since the 1990's. May commemorates the immigration of the first Japanese to the United States (May 7, 1843) and completion of transcontinental railroad by Chinese railroad on May 10, 1889.
The term AAPI encompasses a diverse and fast growing population of 23 million Americans, representing over 50 ethnic groups with roots in 40 countries.

Join us on Saturday, May 17, 2025, for the OCA Greater Phoenix Film Festival at Harkins Theatres in Scottsdale! From 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, we’ll be featuring a lineup of films that celebrate Asian American voices, stories, and creativity, including Check Please by Shane Chung, Koi by Taige Shi, and Making Waves: The Rise of Asian America by Jon Osaki and Josh Chuck. This event is a celebration of culture, identity, and community through the power of film.
